Seafarer kidnapped in latest Gulf of Guinea boarding

A Golar LNG liquefied natural gas carrier was attacked just as it finished loading operations in Equatorial Guinea, with two crew members left on the jetty taken hostage, one of whom managed to escape. Within 24 hours, another boarding occurred in the Gulf of Guinea off Togo

This is reportedly the 20th kidnapping in the Gulf of Guinea in 2020, although incidents are currently tracking below the same time period in 2019. Piracy incidents in the area tend to flare up towards the end of the year as the weather improves
