ICTSI unit Contecon Guayaquil SA created the first port in Ecuador capable of handling neopanamax vessels in 2019, following the dredging of the 95-km port access channel at the port of Guayaquil. Many other ports in the region have added new facilities to take advantage of the added capacity made possible by the expanded Panama Canal
