Seaborne fuel oil flows altered by pandemic and sulphur rules

In the first eight months of 2020 fuel oil shipments to the US from Russia were tracked at 10.5m tonnes, double the 5.8m tonnes seen for the comparable period in 2019, according to oil analytics firm Vortexa

‘The market underestimated how much compliant fuel would actually be available due to the availability of cheaper blended fuels and additional desulphurisation capacity coming online within the refining complex,’ said Vortexa trading specialist Cosmos Kedros
