Beirut port fire disrupts cargo operations
Cargo operations affected as a large fire breaks out at the port, reportedly at a warehouse where welding and cutting works were in progress. Efforts to recover cargo are ongoing at the badly damaged freezone area of the port
Warehouses in the freezone that had been damaged by August’s explosion were being cleared of debris at the time of the incident, a Lloyd’s Agent in Beirut reports. He expects the area to be made off-limits or have access restricted again, pending the results of an investigation into the latest fire
