Oil leak fears from burning VLCC off Sri Lanka
The fire on board New Diamond which reignited on Monday evening was doused and boundary cooling is being done to prevent reignition. The Sri Lankan Navy has spotted a small patch of oil approximately 1 km away from the vessel
The 20 crew members rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy have been transferred to to the port of Hambantota and isolated due to coronavirus concerns. Meanwhile, the master of New Diamond remains on the scene with the firefighting crew assisting with the operation, with the diesel leak suspected to have come from tanks near the now flooded engine room
