OOCL launches two direct China-Southeast Asia services
The new services link north and south China ports to key hubs in Southeast Asia, unlike some of the Cosco subsidiary’s competitors, which have initiated direct calls to Vietnam from China
The new services seem to suggest that OOCL, traditionally more of a mainline carrier, also sees the potential of China-Asean trade and does not want to miss out on rising volumes. However, the subsidiary of Chinese state-owned group Cosco has chosen to run its services into hub ports rather than directly to centres of new demand such as Vietnam, unlike its competitors
