An insurgent group affiliated with Islamic State has tightened its grip over the East African country by seizing and shutting down the port of Mocímboa da Praia
Mocímboa da Praia has been a logistics link for Total’s $23bn LNG project on the Afungi Peninsula in Cabo Delgado — a project that has more than 65trn cu ft of natural gas reserves and is expected to develop 43m tonnes a year of LNG by 2024
