The Lloyd’s List Podcast: In conversation with shipping leaders

Listen to the latest edition of Lloyd’s List’s weekly podcast — your free weekly briefing on the stories shaping shipping

On the podcast this week David Osler talks to two of shipping’s recent intake of leaders setting out their stalls as chair and president of industry associations. Lindsay Malen-Habib is the new president of the American Salvage Association and Susan Oatway is the first woman chair of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers — they talk us through their roles and their priorities

WHEN we set up this podcast one of the stated aims was to tell the story of interesting and important people doing interesting and important things within the shipping industry, so this week I’m handing over the reins to our insurance and law editor David Osler, who has been out and about talking to just such a pair of people.

Lindsay Malen-Habib is a senior sales director at Resolve Marine Group, but she is also the new president of the American Salvage Association. She talks to Dave about both of her jobs, and gives us an update on the recent Höegh Xiamen car carrier casualty in Jacksonville.

Then we have Drewry’s Susan Oatway, the first woman to chair the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Susan explains why she believes the ICS, as shipping’s professional body, is just as important now as it was when it got its royal charter in 1920.
