Port of Charleston expects uptick in throughput from new Walmart facility
The new 3m sq ft site will be located some 35 miles from the port of Charleston, with access to the Norfolk Southern Railroad and a cluster of state and federal highways
The new distribution centre is the latest development in Walmart’s 20-year-old ‘four-corner’ strategy that entails using multiple ports on the US east, west and Gulf coasts to minimise inland freight costs
