Panama to fine and de-flag ships for AIS tampering
A few weeks ago the US government issued a new advisory towards the shipping industry and how it could and should prevent vessels from getting away with sanctions evading and deceptive behaviour. Intertanko said the recommendations will be expected to be the new standard. It warned, however, against using AIS in isolation as an indication of deceptive practices.
