Chinese firms likely to seek wriggle room in LNG offtake arrangements
OIE analysts argue that in light of domestic gas market uncertainty, Chinese NOCs are not inclined to walk away from LNG offtake arrangements. They may rather seek lower prices and leeway for cargo diversions
While Chinese buyers may be loath to give up long-term offtake arrangements given an apparent lack of alternative contractual structures, they may swing towards more flexible contracts that are not tied to fixed import destinations
