Indian government approves structural overhaul of major ports

The Indian government's approval of the Major Ports Authority Bill 2020 will replace the existing law of 1963 and seeks to improve efficiency and competitiveness. State-run ports in the country will get to determine the tariffs for various port-related services as well as the terms for public-private partnership for port development

The new bill will provide more operational autonomy to state-owned ports and bring transparency in operations
