THIS week’s podcast serves as a precursor to the upcoming Qatar Maritime and Logistics Summit, which will be held in Doha on February 18.
Lloyd’s List’s Linton Nightingale is joined by our chief correspondent Richard Clayton, who will chair the summit, and Mwani Qatar head of marketing Shammi Mohan. Lloyd’s List’s Intelligence head of consulting Chris Pålsson also makes a welcome return to the podcast.
Listeners are treated to a bitesize preview of what to expect from next month’s free-to-attend summit.
Mr Clayton reveals that the Summit, hosted by Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, boasts a stellar line-up of speakers, who will dig into the challenges faced by maritime and logistics players over the coming decade, and will seek positive and constructive solutions to these challenges.
“We’ll be looking at financing for massive infrastructure projects, global trade trends, port developments, safety and security, and we’ll be asking how the shipping, ports, and inland logistics businesses can thrive while remaining sustainable,” he said.
Mr Mohan says delegates will be welcome to savour the delights of Doha, as it showcases the city as a vital maritime hub for the future and prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
