Panama Canal to cut slots and impose more charges as drought hits operations
Daily slots will be cut to 27 and a fixed charge of $10,000 and variable charges according to the water level for vessels more than 125 ft will be imposed from February 15. Measures being imposed because of a lack of rainfall
If water levels on Gatun Lake, which supplies water to the locks, improve the charge could be lowered and the number of slots raised
