US delays new 10% China import tariffs on key consumer goods

New duties delayed to December 15 relating to articles in which China supplies more than 75% of total US imports, including cell phones, laptop computers, video game consoles, certain toys, computer monitors and certain items of footwear and clothing

The hiatus on tariffs offers some relief for US importers ahead of holiday shopping season. The National Retail Federation has called on the Trump administration to develop an effective strategy to address China’s unfair trade practices
