BHP seeks LNG-fuelled transport for iron ore cargoes

It has called a tender to transport 27m tonnes of iron ore using LNG-fuelled carriers. The tender also seeks new solutions to slash emissions and boost productivity of freight delivery

‘While LNG may not be the sustainable homogenous fuel of choice for a zero-carbon future, we are not prepared to wait for a 100%-compliant solution if we know that, together with our partners, we can make significant progress now,’ said BHP's vice-president for maritime and supply chain excellence Rashpal Bhatti
