California lawmakers to consider bill restricting port automation
The proposed legislation, identified as AB 1321, could have a significant impact on the future of automation in the state’s ports and will be heard on July 9 by the California Senate’s nine-member Committee on Natural Resources and Water
The hearing comes just days ahead of a meeting of Los Angeles port commissioners who have been instructed to reconsider their earlier approval of technology, which would lead to automation at a facility operated by APM Terminals at the port
