Tanker attacks: Establish the facts and clarify the responsibilities in Hormuz

The Tanker Wars of the 1980s, when attacks by Iraq and Iran on each other’s ships erupted into attacks on foreign-flagged vessels, resulted in 239 oil tankers attacked and 55 of them sunk. The US will not want to find itself accused of escalating tensions in the area
