Regasified LNG only a bridging solution to southern Australia's gas woes

Australia's leading electricity provider, Origin Energy, says encouraging oil and gas exploration is the way forward to resolving shortages seen in the southern states. But its chief executive officer acknowledged that taking in regasified liquefied natural gas from Australia's first FSRU faciltity may be a solution in the short run

Australia is set to resort to importing LNG to meet demand along its southern coast because most of its producing gas fields lie in the northeastern and northwestern states
