Panama Canal postpones draught restrictions as seasonal rains arrive

The Panama Canal Authority earlier said the maximum authorised draught for vessels transiting the neo-panamax locks would be 43 feet, a restriction based on actual and projected low water levels in the canal due to prolonged lack of rain in the region

Very good rainfall since the beginning of May has raised water levels in Lake Alajuela while helping to stabilise and prevent the dramatic drop in levels in Gatun Lake, says the canal authority
