Proposed ban on anti-fouling systems pushed back
A long-anticipated ban on cybutryne anti-fouling systems was not approved by the IMO due to disagreement over the fate of systems already installed on ships. The IMO's supreme environmental authority decided one of its subcommittees has to discuss the issue again before it can approve the proposal promoted by the European Union, but there are questions as to whether owners have to remove the systems anyway and whether the EU’s proposal was simply a grace period
