Speed reduction regulation will slow low-carbon transition
If the IMO decides to rely on prescriptive speed regulation to meet its short-term emissions target, it would delay the low-carbon transition and store up greater costs later on for the industry
Proposals being put to the IMO to reduce ship speeds in order to cut carbon emissions are misguided and will do nothing to reduce emissions
