West Mexico LNG terminal gains approval to export US gas
Mexico Pacific Limited’s LNG terminal on the Pacific Coast has been approved by the US Department of Energy to export 12m tpa of LNG to both free trade and non-free trade countries. The project would connect by pipeline to West Texas’ Permian Basin, offering an export route to Asia that does not go through the Panama Canal
The project in the Mexican state of Sonora has access to a deepwater port and multiple pipeline connections to the US shale gas grid, and the start-up date is forecast for the second half of 2023
