The prospect of bunker outlets selling low-sulphur blended fuel oil, with few agreed standards and all sorts of variations in flashpoints and combustibility, has not exactly filled the hearts of chief engineers with joy and confidence
A degree of unacceptable risk is attached to the taking of bunkers, with the onus on operators to prove the fuel will be IMO compliant
