Lower dry bulk fleet growth needed to lift rates
With demand expected to shrink this year, lifting dry bulk rates from current loss-making levels requires fleet growth to be brought down to 2%, says the shipping association BIMCO. That would mean an extra 10m dwt leaving the fleet
As it stands, BIMCO expects fleet growth of 3.1% this year, up from 2.9% in 2018
