Global box trade up 3.8% over year
CTS data shows that global containerised trade grew by a respectable 3.8% to 168.2m teu in 2018, a growth figure slightly higher than analysts forecast. Unsurprisingly, the headhaul transpacific trade fared strongly, but it was the Indian subcontinental/Middle East route that saw the biggest incremental volume gains
Whereas volume growth on the eastbound transpacific accelerated at breakneck speed, the equally lucrative Asia-Europe trade reported only moderate growth
