Shipper survey reveals openness to rate premiums
Whether rate transparency would lead to a quest for the lowest rate has been debated within the container shipping for many years, but as the industry moves closer to making this a reality a new Sea-Intelligence survey suggests nearly 50% of shippers choose to pay a premium. However, the analysis also suggests high volume shippers and shipments pay the lowest freight rates, and that the smaller shipments pay higher premiums.
Sea-Intelligence compiled its findings via data from online freight platform Cogoport, assessing nearly 800,000 rate offers focused on the Indian trade lanes
