Guyana gears up for oil economy

One of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere is set to become an oil giant. Guyana could become a regional hub for deepwater subsea oil and gas operations, like in Norway, Houston or Aberdeen

Short-term boost to aframax market in the Caribbean expected, supplying demand in South America, North America and Southern Europe. Longer-term, larger suezmax tankers destined for Europe may seek alternatives to Libyan oil, and a jump in very large crude carrier traffic to China and India
