Chinese leasing orders seen as drag on dry bulker prospects

Increasing number of dry bulker orders placed by leasing houses in China adds pressure on supply side and makes the capesize sector a less interesting place for investors, according to Shenwan Hongyuan Securities analyst Yan Hai

The next five to 10 years may see a big part of the sector for capesize or larger vessels dominated by Chinese leasing majors and state-owned shipping firms such as Cosco Shipping, backed by large cargo owners like Vale
