Torm starts venture with GSI and ME Production for scrubbers

The major product tanker player ties itself to the fortunes of the scrubber market with a 27.5% stake in a new China-based joint venture. Torm orders 21 scrubbers and may buy 18 more, possibly equipping almost half of its fleet with the abatement technology to meet the 2020 sulphur cap

The Danish tanker owner could spend almost $80m on scrubber installations ahead of the 2020 sulphur cap
