ACL looks for UK flag alternatives as threat of no-deal Brexit looms

Grimaldi subsidiary would prefer to keep its five ships under the UK flag but says it may be forced to quit because of onerous tax and regulatory obligations

ACL chief executive Andrew Abbott is considering both the Italian and Maltese ship registers as the carrier draws up contingency plans should Britain leave the EU without a workable treaty in place, but the UK Ship Register says the target to double tonnage under the flag remains unchanged
