Seafarer survey highlights criminalisation concerns

Survey by maritime professionals’ union Nautilus reveals that 90% of seafarers fear criminalisation above all else at sea, in the week a US cruise captain stands trial for breaching pollution laws in France. The study also found that nearly three quarters of respondents suggested the threat of prosecution had made them question remaining in maritime

Nautilus International surveyed more than 500 seafarers as part of its investigation and will file a report on its findings, including advice for seafarers faced with prosecution
