The American Club will not cover non-compliance fines

Coverage of fines for non-compliance would only happen at the discretion of a club’s board of directors, and that should only be expected in extreme cases. Casualties resulting from new fuels are an issue for P&I clubs, and disputes between shipowners and charterers may be covered by freight, demurrage and defence insurance

Exceptions are highly unlikely and might only be possible in the case of ‘egregious mistreatment’
