Sponsors of 2020 paper move to counter ‘misconceptions’
The group of flag states and industry associations that proposed an ‘experience building phase’ to follow the January 1, 2020 sulphur cap start date say they do not support a delay or weakening of enforcement in a statement issued ’in response to concerns regarding recent misconceptions’
The statement from BIMCO, Intertanko and the Marshall Islands says the co-sponsors of the paper are fully committed to a successful transition to the 0.5% fuel oil sulphur standard on January 1, 2020, and that any claim they are seeking to delay it ‘is false’
