Shell greenlights Canadian LNG export project

Shell, Petronas, KoreaGas, Mitrsubish and PetroChina have agreed to invest in the project that Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau called the single biggest private sector investment in Canada’s history. The facility will initially yield 14m tonnes per year

The Anglo-Dutch energy major, which has a 40% stake in the Canada LNG project in Kitimat, British Columbia, said construction on the project — which has been estimated to total as much as $31bn — would begin “immediately,” with the first cargoes expected by the middle of the next decade
