Yards in US and Turkey could be added to EU recycling list

The clock is ticking on the introduction of a list of European Union-approved recycling facilities. As the December 31 deadline approaches the list is only graced by EU yards. The European Commission may have addressed some queries by finally proposing the inclusion of three non-EU yards, but even if these nominations are discounted, NGOs Shipbreaking Platform and Transport & Environment claim the EU’s yards have enough capacity to service the EU-flagged fleet

The commission has launched a public consultation as NGOs claim that the current EU-only list has sufficient capacity to recycle the EU-flagged fleet
