Greek shipowners back ‘experience-building phase’ for sulphur cap
As the practical implications of the IMO’s 2020 sulphur cap come into ever starker focus for shipping industry players, the Union of Greek Shipowners has thrown its support behind the recent industry proposal for an ‘experience-building phase’ to help tackle safety and logistical uncertainties around the switch to new fuels. Its president Theodore Veniamis also says that the bunker supply chain’s responsibilities for providing safe, compliant fuels and for the consequences of bad bunkers should not be shifted onto operators and crews
