MOL backs low-sulphur fuel oil to meet IMO cap

Junichiro Ikeda, president and chief executive of Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines, prefers low-sulphur fuel oils to meet the 2020 emission regulations, but is not ruling out scrubbers for a few ships. Either way, the end consumers should share the extra cost created by the new rules

The Japanese shipowner recently installed a scrubber on one VLCC, but the company's chief executive says the space-taking device is not suitable for all ships
