Maersk Tankers pilots wind propulsion on product carrier
Rotor sails currently being installed on a Maersk product tanker will use wind for propulsion and are being piloted with a view to cutting fuel consumption and thus emissions
The technology is suited to larger vessels such as long-range two product tankers but the costs are too high at the moment to make it commercially viable, says Maersk Tankers technical director
