The US-China trade war has not yet hit freight earnings even though cargo flows are altering in adjustment. If it were to become prolonged and escalated, the friction may in the long term affect overall seaborne trade, but this is not an imminent prospect
Vessel operators will need to be nimble to meet demand from new trade lanes if the trade tension continues to escalate
