Greece to open private maritime academy

The Metropolitan College is collaborating with Southampton Solent University, creating the first private merchant marine academy in Greece, aimed at plugging the gaps in higher education, with courses taught in Piraeus and final exams taken in Southampton. Cadets will also spend 15 to 18 paid months at sea during their four-year studies

Graduates of the Warsash-backed academy will be certified by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency
