Wet damage claims draining bulk carrier owners

The average cost of a bulk carrier wet damage cargo claim is almost $110,000, according to a new report from the Swedish Club, with DNV GL and MacGregor. Aside from the towering number itself, wet damage was also the biggest cause and source of cost in bulker cargo claims between 2008 and 2017

Almost 34% of all insured bulk carriers suffered a cargo claim in 2017, with the average claim almost $70,000
