US-Asia LNG shipments set to rise but capacity crunch looms

As the Panama Canal welcomed its first LNG shipment from the Dominion Cove Point export terminal in the US headed for Japan, with a view to increasing the number of transits later this year, a carrier shortage is looming over the market.

Liquefied natural gas trade is set to see strong growth in the next decade, with increased flows from the US to Asia through the Panama Canal. But the expected fleet expansion is trailing demand expectations
