IMO proposes compromise on CO2 cuts

IMO launched negotiations for a five-year decarbonisation strategy this week. The preparatory meeting must agree to a report to be reviewed by the MEPC next week, which will formulate the finalised version of the strategy.

New proposal for 50% emissions reductions by 2050 receives tough reception amid insistence of no targets by Brazil, Saudi Arabia and others.
