Best in class announced for 2018 Lloyd's List Americas Awards

Gala event will see some of maritime’s biggest shipowners taking part, including Shell Shipping & Maritime, Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Carnival Corporation and Holland America Group

Lloyd’s List Americas Awards recognise shipping and logistics companies, ports, environmental initiatives, training and innovation across the Americas

FINALISTS in the 2018 Lloyd’s List Americas Awards have been announced ahead of the May 23 gala event in Houston, Texas.

Now in its fifth year, the Lloyd’s List Americas Awards recognise shipping and logistics companies, ports, environmental initiatives, training and innovation across the Americas.

Taking part this year is some of maritime’s biggest shipowners, including Shell Shipping & Maritime, Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Carnival Corporation and Holland America Group.

Ports and port operators include The Port of Virginia, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, Port Houston, Port of Oakland, APM Terminals and Navios South American Logistics.

Finalists were chosen by a panel of industry executives from across the Americas, who met in March following the Connecticut Maritime Association annual conference at the Hilton, Stamford.

Foremost founder James Chao will be recognised at the gala dinner as the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Winner, for his legacy of shipping and philanthropy. Dr Chao was unanimously selected by the panel of judges for his contributions to shipping and support of education.  

Alongside the gala, Lloyd’s List will be hosting a content-led seminar on The Three Elements of Gas Shipping Efficiency, at the Knect365 Gas Shipping Americas conference. Lloyd’s List chief correspondent Richard Clayton will host the event with MOL Americas VP-LNG Nitin Nayyar and International Registries general manager, LNG and LPG, Eric Linser.
