Shipping in demand but green issues loom larger
IT WAS a headline that might sum up much of shipping circa 2007. ‘Bulker boom drives beans into boxes’ were six words that encompassed two major trade sectors with widely different fortunes throughout this curious year. For the bulk carrier shipowner, it was a year for the treasure chest of memories — with rates the like of which had never been seen before, in a sector which was used to living on scraps.
