Uplift New cranes for St Petersburg
First Container Terminal in St Petersburg has received two new STS cranes as part of the terminal’s expansion and development programme. The programme envisages total investment of $180m to 2012, and includes gradual equipment replacement, as well as yard extension and the construction of a new berth. The new cranes produced by Konecranes are of panamax standard with a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes and outreach of 38.5 m. The technical parameters of the cranes allow up to 30-35 moves per hour per crane. The new cranes will initially be deployed at piers 85-87 in addition to the existing units to increase crane density and overall berth productivity during the high season. Both cranes are expected to be put in operation in January.
