Buoyant ship register leads way
TEN years ago the Union Flag was lowered for the last time from government flagpoles as Hong Kong celebrated its return to Chinese sovereignty after 156 years of British colonial rule. The raising of China’s red and five gold-star flag, and with it the arrival of thousands of troops over Hong Kong’s rain swept streets, brought in a sense of uncertainty and bemusement about the future.
