Brace position Hanjin names two boxships

SOUTH Korea’s Hanjin Shipping held a double christening ceremony at Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Ulsan shipyard yesterday for a brace of 6,555 teu boxships, Hanjin Mumbai and Hanjin Shenzhen, writes Keith Wallis. The 80,800 dwt vessels are the sixth and seventh in a series of eight containerships on order at Hyundai Heavy. The final vessel in the series, Hanjin Chongqing, is expected to be delivered next year. Hanjin Shipping said the two newly delivered vessels will replace 5,500 teu containerships that are currently deployed on the Far East Europe Express (FEX) service, which includes calls at Xingang and Yantian in China, Gwangyang and Pusan in South Korea, Singapore, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Felixstowe.
