New lease of life Chinese double-hull first
Hebei Ocean Shipping has recently taken delivery of Hebei Mountain, the first oil tanker to be converted from single hull to double hull in China. The conversion was completed in seven months by Cosco Dalian Shipyard. The shipowner spent between $23m-$25m to convert the 1995-built, 301,600 dwt single-hull Hebei Mountain to a 310,000 dwt double-hull tanker, and expects the ship to operate for another 15 years after the conversion.
